When I try to run "sudo apt-get update" on my ubuntu 10.10 , it gives a lot of 404, this is because the link in etc/apt/sources.list has dead and not working anymore since april 2012, to solve this:

1. Open terminal
2. cd /etc/apt
3. sudo gedit sources.list
4. Erase all inside, and write/ replace with this

5. Save, done

Now you can run "sudo apt-get update".

Step:
1.Play any music / video with media player classic
2.double-click on the blue FFDshow icon on the taskbar
3.enable the Dolby Decoder by checking the checkbox
4.enable mixer and set output speakers configuration to 5 channel or as you wish

Done

I just reinstall windows 7 and get the error

"You don't have permission to save in this location.  Contact the administrator to obtain permission.  Would you like to save in the ..........folder instead? "

This error happened when i tried to save a file from chrome to my hardisk. Even I'm an administrator, I still get this error. To solve this, here are the steps:

1. Open my computer, right click on local disk that you are trying to save the file, for example D:, right click, then properties.
2. Click on the Security tab.
3. Click on the Administrators
4. Click Edit...
5. Click Administrators again.
6. The permission already allow full control, check deny, then check again allow full control, then apply.
7. Some of folder will be denied to be full controlled, for example, folder Music and folder Pelm (You must remember all this folder).
8. After finish, click ok, ok.

9. Right click on the folder that has been denied, click properties.
10. Click on Security tab.
11. Click Everyone, then click Edit...
12. Click Everyone, then check Allow Full control, then click apply, then click ok, ok.
13. Do this to all folder that has been denied before.

If that doesn't work, try run chrome with run as administrator

I'm using windows 7. When i tried to ping using cmd, it get an error 'not recognized as an internal or external command', it happend with some command too, to solve this :
1. right click my computer, click properties.
2. click advanced system settings
3. on tab advanced, click environment variables...
4. on the bottom, system variables, click variable 'Path', then click Edit...
5. give semicolon ';' on the end of the variable value, then type 'C:\Windows\System32' without quotes, click ok

When i try to share folder between host and guest (ubuntu) in virtual box, i install guest additions, then i open terminal, and type
 sudo mount -t vboxsf share /home/mada/share
But i get error 'uknown filesystem type vboxsf', to solve this, type in the terminal
 sudo chmod 777 /home/mada/ubuntu \
press enter twice, then
 sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose-guest-utils
After installation complete, type the mount again, and it worked for me.
Note: my shared folder name in host is 'share', same with the guest shared folder name

Sometimes, a browser like google chrome can't stream/ play youtube videos, if you have IDM, then it keeps ask us to download the videos instead of playing it and the other browser can play the youtube videos. To solve this problem in google chrome:

1. Type 'about:plugins'
3. Open youtube again and it can be played now

4. If the step above still can't play the video, try empty the browser history

5. If still can't play, try open the about:plugins again, then click details on upper right, and disable flash 11.3.31.222

"An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled. The dependency service or group failed to start."


That was an error when i tried to enable ICS when I tried to share my internet through Ad Hoc. So to make it enable, we must start some services. Open it by click windows, then type 'services.msc' in the run box. Then start this services in order.


1. Appliaction Layer Gateway Service
2. Network Connections
3. Network Location Awareness (NLA)
4. Plug And Play
5. Telephony
6. Remote Procedure Call
7. Windows Event Log
8. Remote Access Connection Manager
9. Remote Access Auto Connection Manager


If you don't start it in order, you may get error dependencies.
If you start Remote Access Connection Manager without starting Windows Event Log, you will get Error 87: Parameter is incorrect.
Then connect the Ad Hoc and enable the ICS.

1. download and install Android Sync Manager WiFi  on computer, http://ds.mobileaction.com/android/amwifi.exe
2. On your mobile phone, open market and search Android Sync Manager WiFi, then install, if it can't be installed, open Settings > Applications, and enable Unknown sources.
3. open the application on your mobile phone, click next, then fill PIN for confirmaton on your PC, for example:1234,then click done, there will be anl IP shown, for example 192.168.33.100
4. Open Android Sync Manager WiFi  on komputer, then click Settings > Connection
5. On PIN Code column, fill the PIN just like before, that was 1234, on handset IP, fill IP that is shown before, that was 192.168.33.100
6. click ok, done

simply

1.turn on printer
2.press and hold stop/reset button for 10 seconds

 the error indicator E4 now become 1 and ready to print

1.copy all the content of windows 7 to flashdisk
2.change file 'bootmgr' to 'NTLDR' (upcase)
3.restart computer, and go into bios, change 1st boot to flashdisk

If you get error message "Disk defragmenter cannnot start because the task scheduler service is not running. Start the task scheduler service and try again." when opening disk defragmenter on windows 7, try this to solve it:

to solve this problem, try using a software that cure the registry like regcure. Open the program, scan, then cure, this will solve this problem :)

1.Restart komputer
2.Pada grub menu pilih ubuntu recovery
3.Setelah itu pilih root
4.Lalu ketikkan passwd pada bawah layar
5.Masukkan password baru, lalu masukkan lagi passwordnya untuk verifikasi
6.Jika selesai, ketikkan quit atau exit saya lupa..hehehe..maka dia akan restart..
7.Ketika telah masuk linux,,di terminal ketikkan su, lalu masukkan password yang tadi,,beres deh...

kalo anda mengalami ini, maka anda pasti tidak akan bisa update antivirus, hal ini dikarenakan oleh virus sejenis malware. caranya agar situs-situs tadi bisa dibuka sehingga bisa update antivirus adalah begini:

1. buka task manager
2. klik processes
3. klik image name, agar nama proses terurut
4. lalu cari image name 'svchost.exe' dan user name 'network service'
5. kemungkinan, salah satu dari 'svchost' itu adalah virus, saat saya terkena malware, terdapat 2 svchost.exe dengan user name network service, end process salah satu, saat itu saya end process yang mem usage nya besar, jika salah pilih, maka komputer akan restart, dan coba end process lagi svchost yang laen, namun jika benar, maka virus malware lah yang anda hentikan
6. jika telah benar, maka website antivirus apapun dapat terbuka, sehingga anda bisa update antivirus anda
7. jika telah di update, jangan lupa scan komputer agar malware nya hilang ^^

Mungkin suatu saat ketika anda ingin surfing web dengan firefox, akan muncul error 'content encoding error' ketika membuka sebuah web. Cara agar error tidak muncul lagi dan bisa surfing web lagi adalah :

1. ketikkan 'about:config' pada url firefox, tekan enter
2. jika muncul peringatan, klik 'i'll be carefull, i promise!'
3. lalu pada filter, ketikkan 'encoding' tekan enter
4. double klik pada 'network.http.accept-encoding' lalu ganti value 'gzip,deflate' menjadi 'true'
5. Beres, sekarang anda udah bisa ngenet ^^

Namun terkadang ketika membuka sebuah situs, terdapat tulisan-tulisan yang berubah menjadi kotak-kotak, maka kembalikan value 'true' tadi menjadi 'gzip,deflate'.
