If the google chrome icon changed to generic icon, do this to solve it:
1. Run Task Manager
2. end explorer.exe
3. run new task: cmd.exe
type
cd C:\Users\[username]\appdata\local
type
del iconcache.db /a
type
exit
4. Back in Task Manager
5. run new task: explorer.exe
